Fab Food Friday Special Quarantine Edition- My Go-to Sauces
Over three years ago, due to a very long 3+ hour commute, I ended up gaining a significant amount of weight due to a lack of consistent exercise & eating on the go! With the help of a nutritionist, I was able to plan out a strategy for meals and have been eating a vegetarian-based lunch now for almost 2 years now (along with a more doable commute) which consists of lentils or farro, mostly as a base of protein purchased either at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods (see below pic) (anywhere from 5g-12g of protein see below types), along with veggies (previously frozen which I make a batch every few days to rotate) and tortilla chips. Of course, I needed to spice up that very plain bowl meal with some worthy but healthy sauces that were dairy-free and low on heat intensity due to my acid reflux! These are my go-to rotation right now all available at Whole Foods!
Most are found in the salad dressing section but easily pair well with the bowl meal and are fine to heat up a bit if you don’t want to eat them cold especially in the winter months! A lot are coconut milk-based which aids in toning down things like Sriracha which is a bit spicier!
