Photoshoot Fresh- Basquiat and Kicks Week
This week I wanted to spotlight a great influence of mine, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Today I’m rocking with another Uniqlo shirt this time a replica photo Andy Warhol took of Jean-Michel while working and Jordan 1 Shadow Gray lows with elephant print socks to match.
Speaking of gray, that is what Basquiat’s band was called and he used to perform at places like the Mudd Club. Here’s a podcast of Michael Holman, a member of the band speaking about meeting Basquiat and filming hip-hop in the early years!
Another man who photographed Basquiat in the early 80s was Richard Corman for a L’Uomo Vogue, whom I got a chance to hear speak of this photo session at his pop up in the Upper West Side last November along with Chaédria LaBouvier, (whom I previously interviewed), who had just made history being the first Black woman who curated the amazingly impactful Basquiat show at the Guggenheim.
Drop me a comment below or via Twitter or Instagram of what photographer you would want to work with for a photo shoot and what your fictional band would be called.
